In working with a wide variety of individuals, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations I've collected a broad skill set and a unique method of approach that can be applied to a myriad of endeavours. This can come as a fresh perspective on an existing project that is strugging, in the process of expansion or in need of refocus. Grant Proposals
Writing successful grant proposals often takes as much creativity as crafting a play or novel. I have to make the organization I am campaigning for stand out from the rest of the applicants in a concise yet thorough manner. Before I begin writing, I spend hours reviewing the organization's current media and interviewing directors, staff members, volunteers, and the clients/beneficiaries. I then work to find the unique voice of the mission, conveying the passion and needs of the organization in both the application letter and supporting documentation.
My work with nonprofits often involves a combination of creative consulting and grant writing, especially when nonprofits are at a loss where to begin in funding their cause. I've also used my writing & organizational skills to write and edit newsletters, to craft letter-writing campaigns, and draft press releases. I find this work infinitely rewarding as it allows me to continue my own passion for activist and community-oriented action that was birthed out of years volunteering in grassroots political and creative-based nonprofits.
